We had the most spectacular weekend at Falls Creek at the Mile High Regatta!
The Vivienne Mary was the star of the event! she looked fabulous on the water and all the teams got to paddle in her, she won so many races and was the most photographed and commented on throughout the weekend. We will be forever grateful for this gift from our angel Viv.
Just passing on thanks to all that made the weekend happen, thanks to all our paddlers, volunteers and supporters as without them we would not have been there! Huge thanks to Hazel for organising our entries, accomodation and meals, fantastic effort appreciated by all.
Our thanks again to our Sweep Extraordinaire Greg! kept us safely in the boat, on course and enthusiastically encouraged us to the very end of every race, thank you for your care. Our Drummer Stephanie was awesome, looking like she'd been drumming forever, passing on invaluable feedback as our 'critical friend', thank you. We may have even picked up a new survivor member, met by chance staying at the Lodge, I suggested "meant to be!"
As this was our first regatta and at the beginning of the season, the perfect model of a cohesive team, we thoroughly enjoyed each others company and support from meeting for lunch on Saturday in Milawa to the last days together, some leaving Monday while others maintained the momentum of the mountain, walking the heritage trails and finishing the day with a Potluck Dinner on the deck, spectacular!
I look forward to our next Regatta - the Lunar New Year at Docklands, a great opportunity to unite our team once again to raise the awareness to the wider community of how we came to be Dragons Abreast Melbourne and why we are here, I encourage all members to come along just for the fun of it!
Thank you for being Dragons Abreast Melbourne,
